Meet Xanthe Gladstone

When chef and supper club hostess Xanthe Gladstone reached out to us about creating her dream bridesmaid dresses, we were delighted to join forces on an exclusive collaboration for the big day. Starting with a beautiful, autumnal colour palette, we designed two effortless, dress-up/ dress-down styles that are more than just ‘wear once’ pieces. Like Xanthe, we wanted to create bridesmaid dresses that can be worn again and again, in flattering, easy shapes you can dance the night away in, finished with pockets as always. The results are two versatile dresses crafted from organic cotton poplin in the richest shade of Burnt Orange. We hope you love them as much as we do!

We are so delighted to be able to collaborate with you on your bridesmaid dresses! What made you reach out to PCP for the job?

It’s been the best collaboration and I am so happy with how it’s turned out. I wanted something for my bridesmaids that was a bit different and I also wanted them to feel really good on the day. I’ve always felt so comfortable and confident in PCP dresses and I wanted them to experience that too.

What factors do you think are the most important to consider when choosing bridesmaid dresses?

Repeating my answer from above slightly, but I wanted something that suited lots of different body shapes and everyone felt good in.

Where did you start when choosing your wedding colour scheme, and what inspired you to go for Burnt Orange for the bridesmaids?

I started with the season, we are getting married in October and so the dark orange was the perfect colour to match the time of year. I’m also having dahlias as the main flowers at my wedding, and burnt orange is the colour I think of when I think of dahlias.

Choosing bridesmaid dresses which are rewearable is becoming more and more popular, which we’re so pleased about! How else will you be styling the two exclusive styles we’ve designed together?

I can’t wait to wear the dresses and I know my bridesmaids will rewear theirs so much. With a big wooly jumper in the winter for a more casual look, or for Christmas parties or winter weddings. I think you could also wear the dress all the way through summer.

Which other ways have you made your wedding a more sustainable event?

Locally grown, pesticide free flowers and of course, all of the ingredients on the menu have been thought through and are as local as possible. We are having wild venison as our main, local seafood to start and lots of delicious local vegetables all the way through.

What has been your favourite part of wedding planning and why?

Probably planning the menu was my favourite part, and then designing the look and feel of the wedding with Hugo, who designed all the invitations, menus, table plans as he’s a graphic designer.

Finally, what are you looking forward to most on your wedding day?

All of it! I know there are going to be so many, very different and early special, moments that I just want to treasure forever!
